Look Out for Harmful Fungal Diseases on Your Tree

Similar to insect infestation, fungal diseases on trees can be difficult to identify. In fact, what might look like a fungus might be something else entirely!

For example, magnolia scale, which looks like a fungus because of its scaly substance, is a white insect larvae that can severely damage magnolia trees if it is untreated.

Monitor the health of your tree and learn what’s normal for your tree throughout the year. Some fungal diseases show symptoms as spots on the leaves, some grow at the base of the tree, and it’s possible that some appear in the middle of the trunk.
